MEET Ken

Meet Ken Ken got the idea for a children's book about sharing and diversity in 1993. In 2000, his idea came to fruition with the self publishing of "Skinny Kenny", about a boy who splits his gum with a friend. Writing under the pen name Ewe Vullah, Ken not only wrote the book, but illustrated it, using watercolor and crayon. The result has been called "exactly what I look for in my kid's books!" by one reviewer, Jody.

The book is called "Skinny Kenny" because in elementary school, Ken got teased for being thin by a kid who called him skinny Kenny and recited a limerick similar to the one in the book.

Ken and his wife leave copies of the book in coffeehouses in Cincinnati and Topeka and sell it online at www.happyhandspress.com/.

Many other ideas for books are in his head, according to Ken. He recently became eligible for a waiver, so a lot of his time will be freed up and he can begin to write his next book.

Ken also writes political essays and posts them online, which is how he met his wife. She read an essay of his and they began emailing. She was driving through Cincinnati from Kansas on vacation and stopped by to visit him and they eventually got married.

As for goals with his writings, Ken says "I just want people to be happy when they read my stuff."
