Melinda Gabelman has been working on advocacy skills most of her life, but since 1990, has focused on improving community presentation abilities.
A founding member of Goodwill's Consumer Advisory Committee in 1993 and Leaders In Action in 1998, Melinda was also President of People First of Hamilton County for many years. She has been recognized by Hamilton County MR/DD, the Southwest Ohio Rehabilitation Association, and the Ohio Rehabilitation Association for advocacy work on behalf of individuals with disabilities.
In 2004 and now again in 2009, Melinda enthusiastically has volunteered for levy campaign efforts, which frequently involve community outreach and education presentations, yard sign distribution and post card mailings, and special events.
Melinda is a trained literacy instructor and has assisted others in learning how to read. An animal lover, she has lots of pets, and has young nieces and nephews who enjoy her company. Melinda works out daily and has been active with Team Goodwill" in the annual Hope & Possibility Run, a new feature of the Flying Pig Marathon.
Melinda is a great presenter," said Sharon Hannon, Goodwill Marketing Specialist. "Whenever she speaks to groups, she gets applause from the audience and it's obvious that she makes points effectively."
